Winter Break Travel: A Frozen Tour in Washington DC

Sunday, December 25, 2022

It was 9 °F. I am not used to that kind of temperature. No, thank you! 🥶

I was freezing! My family were taking pictures, my kids were running around the Capitol Hill, and I was just standing there asking them “Are we done yet?”

A visit to Capitol Hill – December 2022

This is our second time to DC in a couple of years. Last year, my son learned a lot of history during our visit to different monuments and museums. Read proud-mama

This year, I let my son lead and be the photographer. He did great!

That Christmas tree was a piece of art! I love the idea of kids hand crafted ornaments. So beautiful!

And what a coincidence! Every year, a different national forest is selected to provide a tree to appear on the west lawn of the U.S. Capitol building for the holiday season. The 2022 tree came from the National Forests in North Carolina.

Looking southeast down Pennsylvania Avenue, I captured a coffee shop. It was time to warm up and sip a cup of coffee.

Later, we went to see the White House. but it was still cold, freezing, and I was not able to feel my face.

Can you see me?

However, I was able to take some pictures of the White House.

Do you see the floatie?

Some beautiful buildings across the street.

And here’s some other pictures…

Can you see my son?

Seriously, the water was frozen. People were ice skating!

Another picture I took right next to the hotel where we stayed.

And the fire truck museum right across the street.
