Yesterday was my son’s birthday. When I asked him what he wanted for his birthday, he said “Pound cake.” and “a birthday cake.” Why not! It’s his birthday!!! 🥳
So I made an orange pound cake, and I bought the birthday cake. 😅
To make a pound cake, you need a mixer. Hand mixer or stand mixer.
What else do you need?
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup corn starch
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- ⅓ cup fresh orange zest
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup fresh orange juice
- 1 cup milk or half and half
- 1/2 cup oil
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 325°F. Grease and flour a standard 10-15 cup bundt pan, or spray with baking spray. Set aside
In a medium size mixing bowl, pour the sugar, vanilla, and start beating with the mixer.
Add the eggs one at a time. Add the orange zest, milk and beat until combined.
Add the orange juice and mix.
Add the oil and mix.
Lower the speed of the mixer and add alternately with dry ingredients, beginning with the flour, baking powder, and ending with the corn starch. Stop and scrape the sides of the bowl periodically.

When cake is finished baking. Let it cool and dust it with powdered sugar and orange zest.
And this boy had a blast!
