Anyone watching the Winter Olympics?
We had such a busy weekend between watching college basketball, the Super Bowl, and the Olympics. 👌🏼
Here are some words, expressions, and quotes from the Olympics 2026:
Hunter Hess (U.S. freestyle skier)
“It brings up mixed emotions to represent the U.S. right now… Just because I’m wearing the flag doesn’t mean I represent everything that’s going on in the U.S.” — on his feelings about competing under the U.S. flag amid current political issues.
Chris Lillis (U.S. freestyle skier)
“I think that, as a country, we need to focus on respecting everybody’s rights and making sure that we’re treating our citizens… with love and respect.” — on social issues and the Olympics.
Svea Irving (U.S. athlete)
“I just continue to represent my values [which are] compassion and love and respect for others.” — on what she’s representing at the Games.
Nelson Mandela (read by Charlize Theron)
“Peace is not just the absence of conflict. Peace is the creation of an environment where all can flourish, regardless of race, color, creed, religion, gender, class….” — recited during the Opening Ceremony to stress unity and common humanity.
She also added:
“Let these Games be more than just sport. Let them be a reminder of our common humanity.” — highlighting the broader meaning of the Olympics.
