Kids’ Books Review

What is happening in the other side of the world is terrifying! I decided to turn off the TV and read books for my kids.

The Tortoise and the Hare book is a funny as well as educational.  It teaches values to your children without them realizing it since they will be captivated by the cute story. I can highly recommend buying it for your children’s library!

This book was illustrated by my friend and mentor Dr. Neena Sodhi. Super Kape Saves Stripey Fish Book is about friends compete and help each other, promoting teamwork over individual, achievement. This charming story builds empathy and promotes critical thinking and problem-solving skills in the young reader. The activity at the end completes the feeling of achievement after reading, problem solving, and word games are done. Excellent read for a child.

Born different, the ugly duckling is mocked by his siblings, rejected by other ducks, and even shunned by his own mother. The sad little bird leaves home, starting a journey where he is jeered at and hunted as he struggles to survive on his own–only to discover that the identity he longed for was within him all along. I love this book!

Each time I read this book to my kids; I have to go sloooow! I just can’t rhyme. I learned English when I moved to the US, and I just can’t rhyme! Here’s one of the reading mistakes I make:

“I can hold a red fan; I can fan with a ban…can…no… fan.” Page 18

My daughter gets free books every month from Dolly Patron’s Imagination Library. Finding Fergus book offers us all giggles and my daughter love it! It is adorable.

Fergus tries all the many ways in which he is TERRIBLE at playing hide-and-seek, such as standing behind a VERY tiny tree (“Found you, Fergus! That was too easy!”) or trying to camouflage in a giant crowd of bunnies and squirrels (“Try bears, Fergus. Bears!”).

This is all for today. I will share more books next weekend! 🙂
