A Weekend in Topsail Beach

Our favorite destination in summer, Topsail Island. We go there every summer. I don’t like crowded beaches and Topsail Beach Even during the busy season doesn’t get as busy and crowded as most other beaches. You will never find me in a crowded spot, except Disney World. 😊

Topsail Island is a 26-mile barrier island shared by Pender and Onslow counties along the coast of Eastern North Carolina. It includes the following towns:

• North Topsail (Onslow County)

• Surf City (Onslow County and Pender County)

• Topsail Beach (Pender County)

Our favorite outdoor things to do on Topsail Island start and end with the beach, with other fun attractions in between.

Jolly Roger Pier:

Located in Topsail Beach, the Jolly Roger Pier is an excellent place to cast a reel or get beautiful views of the green water. Jutting out 850 feet into the ocean you can sometimes see dolphins and sea turtles from the end of the pier.

Fishing tickets are $16/day but if you just plan to walk the pier, spectator tickets are $2.

Patio playground:

Mini golf, ice cream, two arcades & a DJ! Topsail Island’s only family fun entertainment.

Restaurants:

I live in the south y’all! Restaurants are way over yonder down the road. Enjoy breakfast with buttermilk biscuits and gravy. BBQ for lunch and everythin else friiiiiiied…I love livin in the south! 💕

Nicholas Sparks Books:

You can’t go to the coast of Eastern North Carolina and not read a Nicholas Sparks’ novel. “The Notebook” is my favorite. The movie was good too!

You can’t imagine how many books I have had written by Nicholas Sparks. I gave 10 books away already.

I’m reading “The Best of Me” so far, it’s pretty good! I hope the ending will be good as well!

Here’s the best part: “ Everyone wanted to believe that endless love was possible. She’d believed in it once, too, Back when she was eighteen. But she knew that love was messy, just like life. It took turns that people couldn’t foresee or even understand, leaving a long trail of regret in it’s wake. And almost always, those regrets let to the kinds of ‘what if’ questions that could never be answered…”

Before you leave Topsail, don’t forget to stop by and visit the fisherman. Buy some wild caught fish. Time to cook! 👩🏻‍🍳

  1. Great post! Excellent pix and writeup. I love Topsail and the pier at Surf City. I see them mentioned often on HGTV’s “Beachfront Bargain Hunt.”

On the Nicholas Sparks plaque, I noticed the tiny town of Oriental was mentioned. That’s very close to where the Y-Guides have their Spring Outing…so many great memories! 😎🙏
