Beautiful but Exotic

Whenever we stay at a hotel, I like to take a walk and check out their conference rooms. Since I used to work in event planning, I still enjoy seeing what the ballrooms look like. During my recent hotel stay, I stumbled upon an event happening in one of the ballrooms. At first, I thought it was a private event, so I took a peek from the outside. But then someone noticed me and invited me in, explaining that it was an open-to-public event.

As I walked into the room, my eyes were immediately drawn to the hundreds of dolls, doll clothes, and accessories that covered every inch of the space. But what truly took my breath away was the fact that every one of those dolls looked exactly like a real baby or toddler. The level of detail and craftsmanship was simply incredible, from the delicate eyelashes and rosy cheeks to the tiny fingers and toes that looked just like the real thing. As I examined each doll more closely, I was amazed by the level of care and attention to detail that had been put into every single one. It was truly a sight to behold, and I couldn’t help but feel a sense of wonder and awe at the sheer artistry that had gone into creating such lifelike and beautiful dolls.

So I asked one of the artists if they were for sale and she confirmed they were. I simply exclaimed, “Wow!”

The dolls are too expensive for me to buy for my daughter. Additionally, they resemble humans too closely and remind me of the movie “Chucky”.

Of course, I was curious but scared to ask why dolls were made to look like humans. I approached the same guy who invited me in, and asked him.

Here’s his response: Artists create dolls that look like humans for various reasons. Some artists make dolls that are imperialistic and resemble humans to an uncanny degree. These dolls are often used in movies, TV shows, and other forms of media.

Other artists create dolls that are miniature replicas of humans. These dolls are often made using materials such as silicone, resin, marble, and wood. Some artists even use real human hair to make these dolls look more realistic.

In some cases, dolls that look like humans can be used as therapy tools. For instance, reborn dolls are dolls that are made to look like real babies. They are often used by people who have lost a child or who are unable to have children.

I find it strange and unusual to own a reborn doll. But I completely understand the reason behind it if it’s truly to serve for a greater cause which helped many people, especially women who cannot birth any children or other women who lost a child.

In conclusion, these artists are extremely talented. I observed their work, and it was amazing.
