Girls Math

Last Friday, I took my daughter to Target to buy her some sweatshirts. I gave her a $20 Target gift card to spend on anything she wanted.

I was clear at home. I told her, “We are going to Target. I will buy you some sweatshirts, and I have a $20 Target gift card for you to use in the toy section. You need to buy something that costs $20 or less. It’s okay; I will cover the taxes.”

She replied, “Okay, Mama. Thank you.”

While we were in the toy section, Missy was drawn to every toy priced over $20. She liked the Elsa and Anna dolls, which cost $35, even though she already has all the Frozen toys at home. She also liked a Disney castle house priced at over $100 and admired all the princess Halloween dresses, among other things.

I spent 45 minutes trying to negotiate with her, reminding her, “No, you have only $20.” However, she threw a tantrum, and I became very frustrated, resulting in her not buying anything. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I believe we all struggle with overspending, especially women. Our budgeting often goes awry. We tend to return items just to add a few extra dollars to buy something more expensive.

I remember one time when I went to Target to buy toothpaste. Instead, I ended up purchasing a bunch of other items that I didn’t need, and I completely forgot to buy the toothpaste!

Men tend to operate differently, as I believe they have boxes in their brains, with each box dedicated to a specific task.

For instance, when they go shopping, they activate the box related to that task. If a man needs to buy toothpaste for example, he will head straight to the toothpaste aisle, pick out the exact brand he wants, pay at the cashier, and leave.

Excuse us, men, but women’s brains don’t work that way.

We have cables in our brains, all tangled together.

A big shout out to all men out there! You deserve a trophy 🏆

And thank you for saving money and keeping your women safe from going bankrupt. 😉
