Air Fryer Newbie

I finally got my hands on an air fryer, and I was absolutely thrilled! After carefully unboxing it on my kitchen counter, I eagerly read through the manual, making sure to wash the basket with attention to detail.

The next day, I plugged in my shiny new air fryer, filled with determination, and told myself, “Alright, let’s embrace a healthier lifestyle—no more deep frying!”

I grabbed a few fresh potatoes, I cut them into pieces, and seasoned them with a medley of spices. Placing them inside the air fryer, I gave them a light misting of olive oil spray, watching them glisten in the light. After setting the timer and temperature, I thought, “Here we go—this is going to be great!”

Twenty minutes later, I opened the air fryer door, and a wave of anticipation rushed over me. The potatoes looked beautifully golden and crispy, beckoning me to dive in. However, when I tried a piece, I quickly recoiled; I couldn’t swallow it. My golden potatos smelled and tasted like plastic.

Concerned, I called my sister “the one who had convinced me to buy this gadget”, and asked if she had faced a similar issue. To my surprise, she hadn’t experienced anything like it. Of course she didn’t! 😏

Determined to solve the problem, I turned to YouTube and discovered some helpful tricks. I learned that mixing baking soda and vinegar could help neutralize the unpleasant odor. After preheating the air fryer and re-washing the basket, I finally felt hopeful.

After following the online advice, the noxious smell was gone. Yet, I still found the taste of air-fried food unappealing. Am I the only one who’s particular about the flavor of air-fried dishes?
